Abstract

The research on the strategy of Security and National Power: Case Study of the Thai Diaspora in Chumporn Province aims at: 1) to study background and context of the Thai Diaspora in Chumporn Province 2) to study the problems of security and national power in respect of the human rights of Thai diasporas 3) to search for the strategic direction and solution of security and national power in respect of the human rights of the Thai Diasporas in Chumporn Province. The sampling method was purposive sampling; the populations were Thai Diasporas, The government officials who involved in the group, local leaders, regional leaders, NGOs and community leaders. The research tools were documentary, in-depth interviews, focus group discussion along with mind maps, SWOT Analysis through the World Café and Public Hearing. The results were as follows: the Thai Diaspora is a group of people who live and work in Myanmar especially in the areas of Mergui, Tavoy and Tanavasi. Previously, these cities had been parts of Thailand which were sought out by the British colonial. Since 2491, these areas had become parts of Burma which were ruling by Socialist military dictatorship; as a result these people migrated to Thailand. "Burmese said that they are Thais, on the contrary, Thais said that they are Burmese”. In fact they are Thai by race; and being Burmese by nationality.
